What a tale! This was an incredible story。 Good vs。 Evil during a grand adventure。 This is a great read-aloud for younger grades。 The pace will keep them enthralled and the story will speak to their hearts。 We are so looking forward to the entire series。
Larry Craddick,
Fun readThe tale of Heather abd Picket and others will hold your attention until the words The End。 Forts in what promises to be a good series。
Sarah,
That was a fun adventure and a well-told story。 Not perfectly told, but still well-told and exciting。 It's a very archetypal Hero's Journey type story, and there were some elements that were like "Yeah, I saw that coming," but it was fun nonetheless。 Looking forward to continuing with the series! This one was definitely one to listen to on audiobook!
Steph,
A very cute and well written story。 I was expecting a lower grade level of writting, but it was better than a typical YA novel。 I highly recommend it, especially if you're looking for a fantasy/adventure book that doesn't turn into a teen romance。 I look forward to seeing how the series unfolds。 A very cute and well written story。 I was expecting a lower grade level of writting, but it was better than a typical YA novel。 I highly recommend it, especially if you're looking for a fantasy/adventure book that doesn't turn into a teen romance。 I look forward to seeing how the series unfolds。 。。。more

5 stars for my child's delight。。。Many fewer stars for me--I could not pay attention, but it was due to style (and that is okay--I do not have to love each voice/style I read); not my favorite style and I (personally) felt like it contained too many clichés (younger readers may be unaware/have not read enough to recognize)。 Good story, good adventure, likable characters, great ideas--I am sure that many readers love and will love this book (it's a series?) my child wants to read more; and we will 5 stars for my child's delight。。。Many fewer stars for me--I could not pay attention, but it was due to style (and that is okay--I do not have to love each voice/style I read); not my favorite style and I (personally) felt like it contained too many clichés (younger readers may be unaware/have not read enough to recognize)。 Good story, good adventure, likable characters, great ideas--I am sure that many readers love and will love this book (it's a series?) my child wants to read more; and we will! 。。。more
Sadie,
This book has some really beautiful concepts in it, although I feel that it was a bit complicated for my children to follow the entire plot line。 I really enjoyed the themes in the book and the action sequences were really entertaining for my kids as well。 I wish that the plotline was a bit more clear。
Nikki Rushing,
ExcellentThis book and the whole series are excellent I recommend them for anyone to read from the age of being able to read to 100
Tommy Schlosser,
Great tinder for moral conversations with children。
Bethany,
It took me a bit to get into this book, but once I did; I loved it! The audiobook is very well done!
Shane,
I checked this book out expecting (and wanting) it to be just like the Redwall series I loved so much in my childhood。 Superficially, of course, it is very similar to those books, but it is entirely its own thing, and that rules。 I probably would have loved this book if I had read it as a kid, but I was still pleasantly surprised by it more than once。 I'll finish the series, and then recommend them to my kids。 I checked this book out expecting (and wanting) it to be just like the Redwall series I loved so much in my childhood。 Superficially, of course, it is very similar to those books, but it is entirely its own thing, and that rules。 I probably would have loved this book if I had read it as a kid, but I was still pleasantly surprised by it more than once。 I'll finish the series, and then recommend them to my kids。 。。。more

Phil,
Rabbits with swords! An exciting, original adventure with excellent descriptions of action。 Powerful themes of loyalty and the desire for restoration in the world。

A fantastic read, re-read, re-re-read, and so on。

This book is WONDERFUL, and I commend it to your family! We are excited to finish the whole series now! Rabbits with swords, the battle of good vs。 evil, this story is truly epic! We loved it as a read aloud!
Hazel H,
I love how this book relates to the fall of Adam and Eve and I just love 💕 the story。 This book is about Picket and Heather two ordinary rabbits who’s lives were perfect until their home and family was captured by savage wolves。 It shows us courage, loyalty, faith, and love。 It also shows us how Picket and Heather change and grow in understanding that the world they live in is not always perfect。 But they also know that when Jupiter’s heir comes from the ashes and wipes out the monstrous wolves I love how this book relates to the fall of Adam and Eve and I just love 💕 the story。 This book is about Picket and Heather two ordinary rabbits who’s lives were perfect until their home and family was captured by savage wolves。 It shows us courage, loyalty, faith, and love。 It also shows us how Picket and Heather change and grow in understanding that the world they live in is not always perfect。 But they also know that when Jupiter’s heir comes from the ashes and wipes out the monstrous wolves, that life will be perfect again。 It shows us love for our siblings—that we should look out for one another, and encourage one another。 “𝕄𝕪 𝕡𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕖 𝕓𝕖𝕤𝕚𝕕𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦, 𝕞𝕪 𝕓𝕝𝕠𝕠𝕕 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣𝕤。 𝕋𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝔾𝕣𝕖𝕖𝕟 𝔼𝕞𝕓𝕖𝕣 𝕣𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕤, 𝕠𝕣 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕖𝕟𝕕 𝕠𝕗 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕨𝕠𝕣𝕝𝕕。” 。。。more
Hazel Baker,
My eight-year old granddaughter shared this book with me。 I hesitated reading it, because you know, it was about rabbits。 But I had promised, so I picked it up。 I didn’t put it down much until I had finished it, because it is much more than a book about rabbits。 It is about family, courage, overcoming hardship and pain, and about doing what is right。 I kept forgetting they were rabbits。 It is a great adventure, and a tale worth reading。
Nicolas C。,
Exactly the kind of series that I’m looking for to read to my kids - clean, fantastical, and championing bravery when fear is overwhelming and darkness seems impossible to beat。
Valerie Wells,
I found this to be a wonderful story。 Family, sadness, war, confidence, many other emotions。 The main characters are Rabbits, that you cheer on。 If you don't enjoy a fantasy book with animal characters, this wouldn't be the book for you。 I found this to be a wonderful story。 Family, sadness, war, confidence, many other emotions。 The main characters are Rabbits, that you cheer on。 If you don't enjoy a fantasy book with animal characters, this wouldn't be the book for you。 。。。more

It's not bad, there's just no。。。 spark。 No magic。 Nothing special。If you want children's fantasy, just go reread The Chronicles of Narnia again instead。I haven't read Redwall, yet, but I’ll bet Brian Jacques does it better。I imagine this is like a watered-down, less intense version of Watership Down。If you want floppy, happy, carefree bunnies, read Beatrix Potter。If you want a very young children's book with anthropomorphic animals, read Mrs。 Frisby and the Rats of NIMH or The Wind in the Willow It's not bad, there's just no。。。 spark。 No magic。 Nothing special。If you want children's fantasy, just go reread The Chronicles of Narnia again instead。I haven't read Redwall, yet, but I’ll bet Brian Jacques does it better。I imagine this is like a watered-down, less intense version of Watership Down。If you want floppy, happy, carefree bunnies, read Beatrix Potter。If you want a very young children's book with anthropomorphic animals, read Mrs。 Frisby and the Rats of NIMH or The Wind in the Willows instead。For animals that are slightly more realistic, read Charlotte's Web。 。。。more

Heather and Picket are extraordinary rabbits with ordinary lives until calamitous events overtake them, spilling them into a cauldron of misadventures。 They discover that their own story is bound up in the tumult threatening to overwhelm the wider world。 For ages 6-14。

In S。D。 Smith's, the Green Ember, Pickett and Heather are on the run with their Uncle。 They must get far away from the place they call home, because the wolves have attacked it and are on the move。 This book is one hundred percent a mystery and makes the reader long for more!! I really like your books。 I like that they are mystery, suspense, and very funny。 I like that it is a lot like the Bible。 My favorite characters are Helmer, Picket, and Heather。 I also like Smalls, Uncle Wilfred and Emma。 A part I really enjoy is when Heyward talks about his hedges because he is always saying his hedges are crooked even though they are perfect。 I find that really funny。 I am currently re-reading The Green Ember。 My mom is reading aloud Ember Rising to our family。 I recommend thi I really like your books。 I like that they are mystery, suspense, and very funny。 I like that it is a lot like the Bible。 My favorite characters are Helmer, Picket, and Heather。 I also like Smalls, Uncle Wilfred and Emma。 A part I really enjoy is when Heyward talks about his hedges because he is always saying his hedges are crooked even though they are perfect。 I find that really funny。 I am currently re-reading The Green Ember。 My mom is reading aloud Ember Rising to our family。 I recommend this series, it is in my Top 5 Books。 。。。more
Sarah,
This is a sort of epic war and adventure novel somewhat similar to Redwall or the Mistmantle Chronicles。 It is well-written and appealing。 There are strong female characters but gender roles seem to be fairly traditional, at least in this first book in the series。 The leaders and warriors all seem to be men, although women may be valued for their wisdom and knowledge。 The book follows two young rabbits, Heather and Picket as they get pulled into the war that is ravaging their world。 This is a sort of epic war and adventure novel somewhat similar to Redwall or the Mistmantle Chronicles。 It is well-written and appealing。 There are strong female characters but gender roles seem to be fairly traditional, at least in this first book in the series。 The leaders and warriors all seem to be men, although women may be valued for their wisdom and knowledge。 The book follows two young rabbits, Heather and Picket as they get pulled into the war that is ravaging their world。 。。。more

Julie,
I first started this when it came out。。。and both my kids and I got bored pretty quickly。 I’m not sure why, but one child did enjoy the audio version more。 My thoughts? There were too many inner ramblings that seemed to drag on forever。。。once Picket finally got past his brooding (I don’t feel he was treated well by other characters, though, and that bothered me) and Heather discovered some secrets (finally!! Annoying questions answered!), it got a lot more interesting!
Kristen F,
I read this aloud with my daughter and niece。I’m not a huge fan of fantasy books- talking animals and such- but this was such a great story。
